Use a Ring Size Chart
If you've ever wondered how to measure a finger for ring sizes using a size chart, know that you should start with finding an appropriate, printable file. This measuring method is based on measuring your left hand's ring finger (the one next to your pinky).
You can find many charts on the internet, such as Catbird's international ring size chart. It's free to download and print.
Always make sure to print its actual size when you select your printing options. Once printed, place a ring or floss, string, or paper over the chart and find a circle that best matches in size.
The inner edges of the ring should line up with the correspondent circle from the chart.
However, keep in mind that many people's knuckles differ significantly from the finger below them. If that's the case with your fingers, make sure to measure your knuckle, too. Then, use a ring size from the chart that falls in between those two measurements.
Use Paper
You can measure your ring size using any piece of paper. (Again, like the floss/string method, this is not recommended.) Start by cutting a ¾ inch wide strip and make it at least four inches long. Wrap the strip around your finger, just as you would with floss or string, and use a pen to mark the overlapping point.
Use a ruler to measure the length of the paper in millimeters – this will be the circumference of your finger. You can then use the measurement to find your corresponding size using a ring size chart.
